Air Fryer Falafel 🥙✨

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas, soaked overnight 🌰
  • 1 small onion, roughly chopped 🧅
  • 3 cloves garlic 🧄
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped 🌿
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped 🍃
  • 1 tsp ground cumin 🌿
  • 1 tsp ground coriander 🌰
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder 🍚
  • Salt and pepper, to taste 🧂🌑
  • Cooking spray (optional) 🍶

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chickpeas:

    • Drain and rinse the soaked chickpeas. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Make the Falafel Mixture:

    • In a food processor, combine chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarse and well combined.
  3. Form the Falafel Balls:

    • Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the falafel mixture and shape it into a ball using your hands. Repeat with the remaining mixture, making approximately 12 falafel balls.
  4. Air Fry:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
    • Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the falafel balls in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between them.
  5. Air Fry the Falafel:

    • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the falafel are crispy and golden brown.
  6. Serve:

    • Transfer the hot and crispy falafel to a serving plate. Serve with tahini sauce, hummus, or in pita sandwiches with fresh veggies and yogurt sauce.
